Sune Haugbølle is a political sociologist of the Middle East and Professor in Global Studies at Roskilde University. His books and articles deal with social memory, political culture, state violence, and revolution. He is the author of “War and Memory in Lebanon” (Cambridge UP 2010) and “Visual Culture in the Modern Middle East” (Indiana UP 2013). His most recent book is called “Altered States: Remaking of the Political in the Arab World” (2022). He directs the research project Entangled Histories of Palestine and the Global New Left. He is also an editor of the Middle East Journal of Culture and Communication.
