«Justice for Lebanon» is a yearly event organized by the Lokman Slim Foundation, UMAM Documentation & Research, and Dar Al-Jadeed every July in Beirut that features various activities and discussions revolving around the issues of accountability and impunity.
For more than two years, the Lokman Slim Foundation has been working on establishing a national initiative aimed at unifying families of political assassination victims, law experts, and activists who are committed to the pursuit of justice and truth in the hundreds of political crimes in Lebanon that have largely gone unpunished, if not covered by the general amnesty law that was issued in November 1989.
This initiative is named «Manara», the Arabic term for lighthouse, denoting the role of the judiciary in illuminating the arduous path towards the rule of law.
In this context, the Lokman Slim Foundation, UMAM D&R, Dar Al-Jadeed, are pleased and honored to invite you, in partnership with the Beirut Bar Association, the Heinrich Böll Stiftung - Middle East Office, and the Institut Français du Liban, to attend the official launch of the initiative in an event titled «Justice for Lebanon: Manara - A National Coalition for Victims of Political Assassinations».
The event will take place on Thursday, July 10, 2025, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. in the ballroom of the Bar Association, 5th floor. The program will feature interventions by Justice Minister Adel Nassar, Bar Association President Fadi al-Masri, and others. A short documentary produced by the Lokman Slim Foundation on the subject of political assassinations in Lebanon will also be screened.
We look forward to your attendance and involvement in our mission.
