It's Happening Now...
Hasn't 'Never Again' Already Been Said?
يحدث الآن

ألم نقل ذات يوم: «هَيْهاتَ أنْ يتكرَّر ذلك؟»
June 29 - July 29, 2012 @ The Hangar | Beirut

As the Syrian uprising escalated into bloody civil war with seemingly no limits on death and brutality, freelance photographer Alessio Romenzi felt compelled to head east in February 2012, having already spent ample time documenting the Arab Spring manifestations in Egypt and Libya. His work, which has appeared in some of the world’s most renowned international publications, captures the senseless destruction and utter misery spreading throughout Syria.

In "It’s Happening Now…Hasn't 'Never Again' Already Been Said?" Romenzi displayed images he took in Syria's hotspots at the time, Homs and al-Qusair. The photographs demonstrate the emotional connection he had with the subjects of those pictures and the way immeasurable levels of pain and despair – but also the will to survive – can be observed in still images.

The photographs are far more than just another example of photojournalism. They are an entry point into observing the raw emotion of war.
