Exhibition by UMAM D&R & THE FEEL COLLECTIVE
Missing
In a Sea of Oblivion
الحرب في مَفقوديها

في بحر من النسيان
April 13 - May 9, 2010 @ Beirut City Center | Beirut

On the 35th anniversary of the start of Lebanon's civil war, UMAM D&R partnered with the Feel Collective to host an exhibition at one of downtown Beirut's civil war sites, the City Center Cinema, or Egg as it's more commonly known. Inside the hallowed out concrete structue, UMAM D&R displayed its "Missing" exhibtion to draw attention to the Lebanese that disappeared during the war never to be heard from again. Through "In a Sea of Oblivion," the Feel Collective sought to raise awareness about the large number of people that died during the war period by way of murals and installations that were derived from visceral photographs taken amidst the death and destruction that began 35 years earlier. To conclude the joint exhibition, a concert was followed up by a solo performance from Alexandre Paulikevitch. As guests exited the closing event, they were invited to take a flower on their way out.

This exhibition was made possible thanks to funding from Beirut World Book Capital, the Royal Netherlands Embassy in Beirut, and the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation and Development (AECID).
